The older 1.4-litre DCT had a known problem. Clutch actuator failures were not isolated incidents — enough owners ran into it that it became a documented concern, and repairs outside the warranty window were hitting Rs. 1 lakh and above. Not the kind of surprise anyone budgets for.
Hyundai addressed this with the 2024 facelift. The 1.4-litre was replaced with a new 1.5-litre turbo-petrol paired with a re-engineered gearbox, and early ownership feedback on the new setup has been noticeably cleaner — far fewer complaints about the transmission than what the previous version attracted.
That said, re-engineered does not mean proven over time. The 2024 unit is still relatively new and long-term reliability data is still building up. Given the history of the outgoing engine, taking an extended warranty on the new one is a straightforward decision — it costs relatively little against what a gearbox repair could run you if something does go wrong.
