BMW F 450 GS Launched At Rs 4.70 Lakh

Twin-cylinder ADV with 48 hp, premium electronics, and aggressive pricing takes on Honda NX500, Royal Enfield Himalayan 450s

BMW Motorrad has unveiled the F 450 GS motorcycle in India, starting at Rs 4.70 lakh (ex-showroom). It is being offered in three variants – Base (Rs 4.70 lakh), Exclusive (Rs 4.90 lakh) and GS Trophy (Rs 5.30 lakh). The delivery will commence from June 2026 onwards. With its local production, BMW has priced the F 450 GS as one of the affordable premium twin cylinder ADVs.

New 450cc Twin-Cylinder Engine

The powertrain of the F 450 GS includes an all-new 450cc parallel twin cylinder engine developing 48 hp @ 8,750 rpm and torque of 43 Nm @ 6,750 rpm. Noteworthy, it features the engine design with a 135 degree crankshaft that offers improved vibration damping and unique sound signature.

It is linked with a 6-speed manual transmission equipped with Shift Assistant Pro for both clutchless gear upshifting and downshifting. The ADV model is also equipped with Easy Ride Clutch (ERC) for effortless stall-free rides in slow-moving traffic.

 

GS Design and Ergonomics

F 450 GS comes in the traditional GS styling with the signature GS front beak, and X-shaped LED headlight. It adheres to the GS flyline which flows smoothly from front to rear creating an appropriate look for adventure biking. The bike features a 14-litre fuel tank as well as a dual-seater with an 845 mm rider height adding to the overall nature of the touring persona on tarmac and off-road.

A highlight of the GS Trophy model is its racing blue metallic colour along with sport-oriented styling.

 

Chassis and Hardware

The GS 450 has a steel tubular frame incorporating some forged components. As for suspension, it has USD front forks as well as a monoshock type rear suspension which can be adjusted in terms of preload and rebound damping.

Its wheels have an alloy construction and measure 19 inches in diameter at the front and 17 inches at the back wheel. In addition, F 450 GS is equipped with ABS disc brakes front and rear.

Electronics And Features

The German auto giant has fitted the F 450 GS with an impressive suite of electronics. The bike has four different riding modes namely Rain, Road, Enduro, and Enduro Pro where the Enduro Pro mode is for hardcore off-road riding and has the provision for both adjustable traction control and switchable rear ABS.

Some other noteworthy features include, Dynamic Traction Control, Dynamic Brake Control and Engine Drag Torque Control.

Also, the bikes come with a 6.5-inch TFT display that can connect via smartphone; multiple display modes; heated grip, adjustable levers and USB-C charging point.

 

Competitors And Positioning

The F 450 GS is set to be a strong competitor, leveraging aggressive pricing and a comprehensive list of features. It will directly rival the Honda NX500 while also attracting customers who might otherwise opt for models like the Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 or the KTM 390 Duke.
