1.0 TSI now gets an 8-speed automatic, along with refreshed styling, added tech, and a limited-period 75% assured buyback scheme.
Volkswagen has finally unveiled the refreshed Volkswagen Taigun for the Indian market with an introductory price tag of Rs 11 lakh (ex-showroom). This midsize SUV comes with an upgraded design, feature list, and key mechanical updates that will definitely make it better equipped than before.
Changes in Design & Styling
The most obvious changes are visible on the SUV’s front, where Volkswagen has made some cosmetic updates to the LED headlamp design, new bumpers, and even illuminated Volkswagen logos. At the back, there is a new LED light bar along with sequential turn indicators, while new wheel designs and colour variants include Avocado Pearl and Steel Grey.
Interior Changes & Features
The interior of the SUV remains almost untouched, with notable feature updates. These include a new driver’s digital display that has grown to 10.25 inches, a panoramic sunroof, and a new 10.1-inch infotainment display, to name a few.
Volkswagen continues to offer features such as ventilated seats, wireless CarPlay/Android Auto, ambient lighting, and a wireless charging pad in the Taigun. In addition, the SUV gets better air-conditioning efficiency thanks to the variable geometry compressor.
Engine and Performance
The facelifted Taigun retains its current engine offerings, including a 1.0-litre TSI with 115 horsepower and a 1.5-litre TSI engine that develops 150 horsepower.
One key change is the inclusion of an 8-speed torque converter automatic transmission on the 1.0 TSI engine, replacing the older unit. On the other hand, the 1.5-litre TSI continues with its 7-speed dual-clutch transmission.
Fuel efficiency ratings stand at 19.98 kmpl for the 1.0 TSI MT and 19.54 kmpl for the 1.0 TSI AT, while the 1.5 TSI DCT registers 18.85 kmpl. Furthermore, the higher variants come fitted with rear disc brakes.

Competitors & Position in the Market
The updated Taigun remains in competition with major rivals, including the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Grand Vitara, Honda Elevate, and the updated Renault Duster.
Despite having a slightly higher price tag, Volkswagen believes it will be able to offer buyers better features and performance, among other benefits, to attract more customers.
